Safety by choice, not by chance
Slip testing in Bedfordshire
Independent, UKAS-accredited floor testing — grip measured wet and dry, by pendulum and surface roughness, with a report that proves a floor is safe. Walk through how it works below.
Fig. 1 — the PTV scale. 36+ is low slip risk.

The risk
Grip fades invisibly as floors wear and cleaning changes. Slips and trips are the single most common cause of major injury in UK workplaces, and over a quarter of all non-fatal workplace accidents. Source: HSE.
The measure
We put a number on it. The pendulum records a Pendulum Test Value, wet and dry; surface roughness (Rz) is measured alongside it where floors get contaminated.
The duty
Every employer and occupier must keep floors safe and assess the risk; in care settings the CQC expects slip risk to be actively managed. A measured PTV turns that assessment into evidence.
The proof
An independent, UKAS-accredited report is what an insurer, the HSE or the CQC looks for. The same accredited lab trusted on sites from Amazon and Gatwick to British Airways and TUI.

The two tests
Pendulum and roughness
Two complementary HSE-recognised methods, and we’re accredited for both. The pendulum measures grip directly; surface roughness (Rz) tracks how a floor changes over time and matters most in contaminated areas like kitchens and factories.
| PTV result | Slip risk |
|---|---|
| 0–24 | High |
| 25–35 | Moderate |
| 36 + | Low |
| Surface roughness (Rz) | Slip risk |

| Below 10 | High |
